Arcade Pavé Ring
- Materials
- terling silver, pink cubic zirconia / gemstones, blue cubic zirconia / gemstones, pavé setting
- Year
- 2022
This ring features a broad domed band structured through layered openwork arches and repeating geometric apertures. Rows of pavé-set pink and blue stones animate the surface, while fine milgrain edging softens the metallic structure with delicate texture. The contrast between negative space, bright stone accents, and reflective silver creates a balance between ornament and engineering.
This piece forms part of my broader studio investigations into technical refinement, surface enrichment, and pavé stone setting within contemporary jewellery. I wanted to explore how a ring could function simultaneously as ornament, structure, and technical demonstration. The open pierced framework reduces visual weight while allowing light to move through the form. Against this architectural base, pavé-set stones were introduced as bands of colour and brilliance. The milgrain texture was used to frame the settings and add a sense of intricacy associated with classical jewellery traditions. My intention was to merge precision craftsmanship with decorative richness, showing how technical processes themselves can become aesthetic language.
