This ring features a pear-shaped hinged locket head mounted above a refined silver shank. The central panel contains intricate openwork scroll motifs darkened through oxidation, creating depth and contrast against the bright silver frame. A border of finely set micropavé cubic zirconias surrounds the form, adding brilliance and delicacy. A discreet side bead and hinge mechanism allow the ring to open, revealing its hidden interior.
This piece forms part of my broader investigations into jewellery construction, concealed mechanisms, and the relationship between sentiment and adornment. I wanted to create a ring that offers both visual richness and private function. The locket form carries historical associations with memory, intimacy, and treasured keepsakes. By combining this typology with a contemporary ring structure, I sought to transform the finger ring into a vessel of personal meaning. The oxidised openwork centre was designed to create mystery and layered depth, while the micropavé border introduces light and refinement around the darker core. My intention was to contrast public brilliance with private secrecy—an object that invites admiration externally while holding something personal within.
