This neckpiece is composed of a sequence of elongated marquise-shaped links that graduate toward the front, where larger articulated forms create emphasis and movement. Selected links are pavé-set with stones, introducing brilliance and texture against the polished silver surfaces. Copper hinges join each component, allowing flexibility while subtly contrasting with the cool silver structure.
This piece forms part of my wider practical investigations into articulation, surface refinement, and the relationship between engineering and ornament in jewellery design. I wanted to create a neckpiece that could sit comfortably on the body while retaining a strong sculptural presence. The repeated marquise form was chosen for its elegance, rhythm, and ability to create visual flow around the neckline. By enlarging the forms toward the front, the composition builds naturally to a focal centre. Pavé-set surfaces were introduced to catch light and add richness, while the copper hinges remain both functional and conceptually important—revealing the mechanics that allow movement. My intention was to merge precision construction with softness and grace, allowing technical connections to become part of the aesthetic language.
